'This house gets crashed into all the time'

MARIEMONT, Ohio -- The fatal Monday afternoon crash that sent a 78-year-old woman's car rattling off-road, down an embankment and into the side of a house was at least the second to strike the Miami Road home in as many years.

If the homeowner was right in 2016, the last time a crash left his yard strewn with broken glass and dented metal, it may be the seventh or more since his family moved in.

"This house gets crashed into all the time," a 911 caller told police Monday.

This crash killed 78-year-old Maureen Dufour, who was sober and wearing a seatbelt when her car veered off the road near the Indian Hill-Mariemont border.

She was dead by the time first responders arrived around 1:45 p.m.; Mariemont Police Chief Rick Hines described the house as having sustained "major structural damage."

The car had been wedged between the home and a tree, which responding crews were forced to cut around as they attempted to reach it.

In 2016, police said they had to repair or replace the guardrail at the Miami Road curve twice a year on average.
